Chicago the Musical on Tour

Chicago the Musical
Chicago is a timely tale set in prohibition era Chicago, based on a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse. If you like rotten apples in the police force and government corruption, wrapped up in a pleasant package of dancing girls, singers, and neon back-street theatres, then this is the musical for you. Chicago the Musical tickets will open a new world to you, one you might be surprised to find existed back in 1926 when reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins first wrote her play based on her journalistic adventures in Chicago crime.
Bob Fosse arranged the original 1975 production, a style most evident in the current show, and a contributing influence to 2002's film version of the musical, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Rene Zellweger, and Richard Gere.

Chicago the musical springs from the play of the same name by 1920s Chicago reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins. Watkins had covered the 1924 trials of lady-killers Beulah Annan and Belva Gaertner for the Chicago Tribune, and was compelled to pen her drama after witnessing the darker machinations of the city's criminal justice administration.
Chicago the Musical tickets open up the world of vaudevillian Velma Kelly, who killed her husband and sister upon discovering them in bed together. She delivers the show's initial searing tune "All That Jazz", setting off what proves to be a very entertaining evening. Simultaneous to this, chorus girl Roxie Hart murders her lover, nightclubber Fred Casely, before convincing her unsuspecting husband that Casely was a burglar she'd disturbed. The resultant media circus, complete with corrupt lawyers, police and prison officers, and predatory journalists, rolls out like a charm; you'll be glad you decided to buy Chicago tickets for Broadway this holiday season.
